The first Episode of Wolfenstein 3D is 'Escape from Wolfenstein'. In this episode we follow William J. Blazkowicz whlst escaping from Castle Wolfenstein. It is the only full episode of Wolfenstein 3D to physically take place in Castle Wolfenstein itself. All other episodes are in other castles.
William J. Blazkowicz was captured as a prisoner of war, while trying to find the plans for the much feared Operation Eisenfaust. He was locked in a cell under the watch of a Guard. Has been undergoing some severe torture, but managed to overpower the guard and obtain a Knife and Pistol from him. Blazkowicz must navigate through the castle's maze-like corridors, avoid Nazi guards, and fight his way to freedom. Along the way, he must collect weapons and ammunition to defend himself and find keys to unlock doors and progress deeper into the castle. He sneaks through nine floors until he reaches the end, which is guarded by Hans Grösse, a Nazi enforcer and the "boss" of Episode One. Blazkowicz manages to kill him and is able to escape.
The ultimate objective for Blazkowicz is to reach the end of the castle, defeat Hans Grösse, and escape through the helicopter landing pad. The game's plot is set in World War II, and the Nazi regime has developed a new superweapon that Blazkowicz must sabotage to stop their plans for world domination. With intense first-person shooter gameplay and memorable boss battles, "Escape From Castle Wolfenstein" sets the tone for a classic game that has remained popular for decades.
